About us

Museum MORE in Gorssel houses a famous collection, owned by Hans Melchers, containing works by leading Dutch realist artists of the past 100 years. The collection is a significant part of Dutch national cultural heritage. MORE has prime pieces by Carel Willink, Jan Mankes, Pyke Koch and Charley Toorop. Next to its own collection, Museum MORE showcases temporary exhibitions highlighting national and international figurative art.

Our museum in Gorssel opened its doors in 2015, followed in 2017 by a second location in Ruurlo Castle.

EUAN UGLOW | Painting Perception

On show at Museum MORE from 26 May – 1 September 2019.

Location: Gorssel

Euan Uglow was ‘one of Britain’s 15 most significant artists’ for Lord Snowdon’s group portraits in Vogue magazine on the occasion of the Tate Modern opening.

Dutch Museum MORE is dedicating its summer exhibition to British painter Euan Uglow (1932-2000). This is the first time Uglow’s oeuvre is showcased outside the United Kingdom. A selection of approximately 60 nudes, portraits, still lifes, landscapes and 20 drawings will provide a unique insight into Uglow’s obsessive search for absolute perception. In consultation with renowned British art historian Catherine Lampert (former director of the Whitechapel Gallery) and with the blessing of the Euan Uglow Estate the museum is keen to celebrate his vigorous yet magical legacy.
