Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 10am to 5pm.
Museum MORE is closed on Mondays as well as on Christmas Day (December 25) and New Year’s Day (January 1).

About us

It houses the collection that is owned by Hans Melchers, containing works by leading Dutch realist artsis of the past 100 years.The collection is a significant part of the Dutch national cultural heritage. Museum MORE has prime pieces by Carel Willink, Jan Mankes, Pyke Koch and Charley Toorop. Their body of work is related to that of other artists who mixed fiction and reality, amongst those Giorgio de Chirico, Salvador Dali, Rene Magritte, Paul Delvaux, Edward Hopper, George Tooker, Alexander Kanoldt, Otto Dix and George Grosz. Also influential artists such as Marlene Dumas, Erwin Olaf and Ruud van Empel are represented at Museum MORE!

The MORE building

The MORE building in Gorssel was designed by the celebrated Dutch architect Hans van Heeswijk, who was also responsible for the reconstruction of the Van Gogh Museum and the Hermitage in Amsterdam, the Mauritshuis in the Hague. In 2017 MORE will open a second location in Castle Ruurlo. Both buildings are located in the east of the Netherlands.

How to reach the museum

The village of Gorssel is located approximately halfway between the cities of Deventer and Zutphen. When coming by car, take exit 23 of the A1 highway and turn left. After 4 km, you will reach Gorssel. Follow the brown signs “MORE”. The museum has its own parking lot. When coming by public transport, take the train to Zutphen or Deventer, and transfer to Arriva bus 81. After a 15 minute bus ride, you will reach Gorssel, take the stop near the church. The museum is a 2 minute walk from there.
