Lampe paints a child peering out at us with an angry, unfathomable look from under a hoody. The larger-than-life format heightens the sense of menace. The technique also factors in. I ... n the pale, overexposed face, Lampe smoothly painted away colour accents around eyes, nose and lips thanks to the viscous oil paint.
