Nearly half of the enormous series of self-portraits that Philip Akkerman (1957) has made – almost exclusively – since 1981, are painted. He explores different painting techniques, here using a realistic-expressive style in oils on panel. The works by Akkerman in the Museum MORE collection reveal ...that the artist stayed true to his coiffure, with characteristic side parting and quiff , for a good while. Akkerman’s works can now be found at a number of Dutch museums, as well as abroad.
