Pyke Koch (1901-1991) was not easily satisfied with his work. He left behind a limited oeuvre of around 100 paintings. This includes about a dozen still lifes, which he produced mainly during the Second World War. Koch sometimes traded these – small – works for bread, tobacco, or coffee.
