The Electrical Storm, 1935 - 1936

Forget staying dry. Wind, rain and thunder are sweeping in. The ink black – or, in fact, Prussian blue –sky enshrouds the mysterious dune landscape in an ominous light. Two doll-like women with a tabby cat shelter from the violent ‘electrical’ storm. One of them pulls her blue jacket over her head f ... or a modicum of protection. The empty left sleeve blows wildly into the air. Here, Pyke Koch skilfully captures the tone and atmosphere of Italian Renaissance artists such as Mantegna and Piero della Francesca.
