Still Life with a Cigar Box, 1958

Whosoever spends months working on a still life rarely needs to think up something new. In this later work, Hynckes deliberately restrained the rendering of textures. A limited palette, mainly browns, ochres and greys, literally sets the tone. Like a window dresser, Hynckes arranged a selection of c ... omestibles and tobacco products diagonally in the picture plane. The corner of the large cigar box, which undoubtedly bore the inscription ‘corona,’ is exactly in the middle. Text: Chris Reinewald From: Museum MORE: 100 jaar realisme, 2020, Gorssel
