Tobias Schalken

My house is not my home, 2005

This nude girl seems to surrender herself like a sacrificial lamb. With this silicon sculpture, such as those made as props for films, multimedia artist Tobias Schalken creates an eerie atmosphere. He reinforces this sensation by means of the deliberately divergent dimensions. Compared to the normal ... size bed, the child is too small. Alternately the child’s legs and feet are too big in relation to her body. The sculpture is part of a triptych, two sections of which are in Museum MORE’s collection.
